Have you ever noticed the abbreviations that follow a REALTOR’S® name? Do you often wonder what they stand for? Those acronyms are designations, and they usually mean that an agent has received advanced training beyond the minimum education necessary to maintain a real estate license. They have chosen to take classes, attend seminars, and attend workshops to gain more insight into the target real estate market. Below is a list of the nationally recognized designations that the Terri Lynne McNaughton Real Estate Team has earned to provide better quality service to buyers and sellers.
| GRI (Graduate, REALTOR® Institute) – GRI is a nationally professional real estate designation. This designation may only be earned after successfully completing a rigorous educational program that includes 92 hours of live course instruction from a statewide faculty selected because of extensive experience in their own areas of expertise. This designation is available only to members of the local, state and National Association of REALTORS®. |
| CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) – This designation is considered the "master's degree of real estate." Every CRS Designee must have a proven track record in the business, as well as advanced education in related areas like finance, technology and marketing. The training available to CRS Designees includes a strong focus on technology and its applications in the real estate business. A CRS designation is awarded by the Residential Sales Council. |
| e-Pro – The e-Pro designation is a new certification first offered in 2000 by the National Association of REALTORS®. It is a comprehensive Internet certification program for real estate professionals. E-PRO holders have completed a course covering fundamentals of doing business online, ways of creating and maintaining online relationships, web marketing ethical and legal issues, and ways to adapt to new ways of doing business online. |
AHS (Accredited Home-Staging Specialist) - Real estate professionals are expert facilitators of the real estate transaction – from beginning to end. Those agents that have earned the AHS Designation recognize the impact that staging can have on the sale of a home and have prepared themselves to provide that value added service for their clients. Who better to work through the issues of staging with you than the one that is assuming responsibility for the marketing of your home? Equipped with the knowledge and skills to ensure that your home is fully prepared to show itself in the best possible light, the AHS real estate professional will ensure you have an edge on the market. |
| Howard Brinton Star Power Star - The "Star Power" organization is a hand-picked group of approximately 150 of the most successful REALTORS® in the country. "Stars" typically average over 200 transactions per year. Founder Howard Brinton was chosen by REALTOR® Magazine as one of the most influential figures in the real estate industry today. Each Star is interviewed by Howard and must display a willingness to share the factors that contributed to their success and a desire to raise the standards of professionalism in the real estate industry as a whole. Stars then provide their personal success tools as faculty members teaching their knowledge at the annual Star Power Conference, yearly “Advance” and other National educational events. |
| CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) - The CDPE designation is a nationally-recognized certification given to agents who have dedicated their time and effort to understanding the issues distressed homeowners are facing. After taking multiple courses and training sessions, the agents are better equipped to deal with entering the distressed property market—REOs, short sales, preforeclosures and working with investors. |
